Today my friends and I went to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn. As I expected, it was full of an assortment of muscly men with boom boxes, Russians, and tourists. I ate potato vareniki and spinach soup at Tatiana's and succeeded in butchering the names of my meal while ordering. Vareniki is a Russian dumpling dish with a side of sour cream and boy was it tastyyy. It's exciting to see places like Brighton Beach (which is a predominantly Russian community) be so filled with culture; I felt like I was in a miniature Russia.
